Farafra is the smallest and least populated oasis in the Egypt desert, 185 km from Bahariya and 300 km from Dakhla. The road can sometimes be covered with shifting dunes. Unlike the other oases, Farafra is not located in the center of depression but spreads out far from the Saharan plateau, on an isolated plain surrounded by sand.
